The 25 mile route loops through the rolling hills east of Wilkesboro, with views of the Brushy Mountains and the Blue Ridge. The route has no major climbs and has a rest stop at the halfway point.
The 40 mile route is a loop with a scenic out and back section midway. It includes two strenuous climbs and two fast descents as it traverses the Little Brushy Mountain at Windy Gap. The route features two rest stops.
The 70 mile route features 6,300 feet of climbing, including a multi-mile climb up the back of the Brushies to a peak elevation of 2,200 above sea level. The route culminates with a long, curvy descent into the Yadkin River Valley, where riders rush into the valley at speeds of 40 mph and more. Four rest stops keep riders fresh. Some riders use this route as a warm up to the famed Assault on Mt. Mitchell Ride, two weeks later. For other riders, the goal is just being able to finish the challenging course.
